rice fields

Visit Chiang Mai’s beautiful rice fields to get a glimpse into the importance culture of rice farming and agriculture in Thailand. The hotel can arrange half day or full day tours to visit working rice farms as well.

Elephant sanctuary

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is an ethical and sustainable elephant sanctuary founded to help rehabilitate mistreated elephants. It started as a joint initiative between members of the Karen hill-tribes and Chiang Mai locals who were concerned about the welfare of elephants in Thailand. Visit the sanctuary to learn more about elephant conservation as well as feed, bath and play with the elephants.

Please be mindful when you look into other elephant parks as many are infamous for its mistreatment of animals and there are very few that treat the elephants ethically.

wat rong khun

Otherwise known as the White Temple, Wat Rong Khun is actually located in Chiang Rai but reachable on a half or full day tour. The incredibly detailed, all-white exterior is meant to represent Buddha's purity. Mirrored trimming symbolizes self-reflection. Inside the temple, the decor swiftly moves from pristine white to fiery and bewildering.

wat phra that doi suthep

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is found on the stunning mountainside of Chiang Mai with breathtaking backdrops. Though Chiang Mai is filled with temples, What Phra That Doi Suthep is one of northern Thailand’s most sacred temples, the one that crowns the Doi Suthep mountain on the western outskirts of Chiang Mai – it is  definitely something that should not be missed.

khao soi

Khao Soi is Chiang Mai’s famous local dish. When in Chiang Mai, make sure you make a stop to taste Khao Soi. Grab Khao Soi at the Saturday Market (Wu Lai Market) by Chiang Mai Gate, visit Khao Soi Islam near the Friday Morning Market or stop by Khao Soi Mae Sai in Chang Phueak.

karen hill tribe village

A visit to the Karen Hill Tribe Village in Chiang Rai is a unique and controversial experience. The Karen tribe, which is unofficially called the Long Neck tribe, came to Thailand from Burma, when escaping war and violence in their country. From the time when they are 5 to their 21st birthday, each year one ring is added to their collection.

hiking trails

Visit Chiang Mai’s beautiful hiking trials and go jungle trekking. You can take a short trek along a nature trail on the mountainside, plan a day trip or join a tour that lasts for several days and includes elephant sanctuaries, hill tribe encounters, and river activities.

If you are keen on seeing tigers and more exotic wildlife, we would strongly recommend you to speak with your hotel concierge but not visit places that grossly mistreat animals such as Tiger Kingdom.
